- What is the difference between conscious and subconscious mind?
In our daily lives we operate with two types of mind – conscious and subconscious. The conscious mind is responsible for thoughts and logic, while subconscious uses instincts and conditioning. There are two special types of instinct that deal with survival, which are known as the fight or flight response. If we believe that we have a chance of winning, we get into a fight and if not, we run away. These so-called fights can take on forms and range from actual physical confrontations to verbal fights with friends and family. As mentioned in the previous classes, the subconscious mind is subject to conditioning that you have acquired over the years through your five senses as well as physical activities, such as learning how to walk, run, dance, etc. There are many activities that were learned how to perform from the day we were born until about 48 hours ago that have now become part of our subconscious mind.
- What are the pros and cons of operating out of the subconscious mind?
When you allow your life to run based on your subconscious mind, you automatically enter a state of sleep. At the same time, you should not overload your conscious mind with irrelevant thoughts to be in an awake state, either. What you should do, however, is maintain the balance between the conscious and the subconscious to achieve the results that you strive for.
Since your subconscious mind is part of your conditioning, you need to become aware of yourself at all times. The moment you relax, you immediately begin to act based on your conditioning and fall back asleep. As this happens, you lose control of your life and subject yourself to influence and pressure from the people and events around you.
The conscious mind is another very important part of our psyche because it is responsible for retrieving information stored in memory and generating thoughts. Every single thought that arises – whether it is useful or destructive – is a product of the conscious mind. Some thoughts can provide solutions to our day-to-day problems, while others create problems by generating trains of useless and irrelevant thoughts that only sap your energy and have nothing to do with the reality of life. Positive and constructive thoughts can even improve your health.
- How do we reach the balance between the Conscious and Subconscious mind?
There is no question that we should strive to find the perfect balance between the conscious and the subconscious mind in order to achieve harmony in our lives. The subconscious mind should be responsible for our basic physical activity, such as walking, as well as storage of valuable information. The conscious mind, on the other hand, should only be responsible for generating positive and constructive thoughts to solve our everyday problems. This can only be achieved through daily monitoring of your thoughts and being in an awakened state.
There is no way to quickly get all the junk out of our subconscious mind that got there over the years, but the longer we work on ourselves to be in an awakened state and focus on collecting positive and useful information, the more our belief systems will shift and you will begin notice significant changes in your conditioning.

Thank you for this post. I love anything regarding the power of the mind(s) and enjoy writing about it as well. I might add, though, one way we can learn to balance the subconscious and conscious mind is to do a form of daily meditation. Has helped me a lot. :)
